Graham Family
Graham families who paid taxes in Augusta County, Virginia March 22, 1790 and were recorded on the 1790 census were, John Graham, William Graham, and Robert Graham. The following day, March 23, 1790, Christopher Graham assessed his taxes. Christopher had more property than those whose property was recorded the previous day, which could indicate that he had lived longer, accumulated more property and was possibly the father of the Grahams mentioned earlier. There was still another Graham in Augusta County, who paid taxes three months later, June 12, 1790. His name was Thomas Graham. If you judge by how many slaves and how much stock each of the Grahams owned, Thomas Graham would have been wealthier than Christopher and the other three Grahams. Some speculate that Thomas Graham was the father of Christopher and the three sons of Christopher were John, William and Robert. I am not going to speculate, but will start out with Robert Graham Sr., who is traditionally presumed to be the son of William Graham. Robert is the known Graham to be the beginning of our family of Grahams.
